Gospel Summary
Often called the ÒSermon on the MountÓ today's gospel is well known to Christians. In the beatitudes, Jesus explains how we should live if we want to be a part of God's kingdom. Jesus told the people things that were contrary to the way most people lived. For example, poor and persecuted people were not thought of as leaders; but Jesus said they would become rich and inherit the Kingdom of God.

Reflection for Families
Each of us can find qualities of those we love who have gone before us in these beatitudes. The Church recognizes saints (often called saints with a capital ÒSÓ) and surely they lived according to these guidelines. But we know and love people (saints with a lower case ÒsÓ) who are with God and lived according to these guidelines, too. How are we doing with this list? Reflect on each beatitude to determine what you do well and where you need to make improvements.

Bringing the Gospel Into Your Family
Look through old photographs of family members. Maybe some of them are now with God. Using the qualities outlined in today's Gospel, recall qualities of these people and how they are example for your family today. Remember these people especially in prayer today.
