Eleven Years of FaithFirst.com

Welcome back to FaithFirst.com! As we enter our eleventh year, we still offer all the activities, articles, stories, reviews, games and resources that you know and love in addition to an exciting NEW feature. RCL Benziger's new Saints Resources section offers you our entire collection of stories about saints and holy people--at a glance! You'll be able to search for a saint by name, by feast day, or, even, by chapter in your Faith First book. Make sure to look at the section specifically for Faith First. There, you'll find further information about the saints in your program.

You'll see that the navigation of our front page has changed slightly. Across the top of the page, for easier access, we have given you ways to link to some of your favorite resources. Each section of the Web site is still accessible through the menu on the left of this page. As always, FaithFirst.com is updated each week to bring you the most up-to-date resources. Thank you for continuing to visit FaithFirst.com!

Haitian Earthquake

We join all Americans in our sorrow for the people off Haiti in face of their most recent disaster and we join all believers in offering our heartfelt prayers for all who were killed and injured, or who lost relatives and friends in this terrible earthquake. We encourage your contributions to the disaster relief effort through the established charity of your choice. One of our strong recommendations for your donations is Catholic Relief Services. Donations may be sent to the following address or through their Web site, www.crs.org.

Catholic Relief Services (CRS)
209 W. Fayette Street
Baltimore, MD 21201-3443

Since we know that catechists and Catholic school teachers will face the task of addressing this terrible event with their classes in the next several weeks, we offer a few ideas to assist you. Simply click on the file below to download a PDF file that includes a prayer for the people of Haiti, some help on discussing the Haiti tragedy with young children, and some additional facts about Haiti.

RCL Benziger Resource Center

This is a new section on our RCLBenziger.com site. We plan to gather in it all the resources from our various curriculum Web sites that are of general interest to all of our users, regardless of your choice of curriculum. To begin our Resource Center, we have gathered all the material related to saints of the Catholic Church that we have available on our various Web sites. Now you will be able to search this archive by date, curriculum program, or alphabetically. Click here or on the Resource Center button in the upper right of this page to begin using this helpful new feature.

Year for Priests

imagePope Benedict XVI has declared a “Year for Priests” beginning with the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 19, 2009. The Pope has declared St. John Vianney the Universal Patron of Priests on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of the Curé d’Ars. Beginning in September, RCL Benziger will offer you articles, classroom resources, and other links to heighten awareness among students, catechists, and parents about the work of Catholic priests throughout the world. Please pray for all priests that they will always be faithful to their vocation.
